What are the Artist Pages?
Our programs automatically construct a web page for each registered artist. Registration is open to all artists and free of charge. Artists can access a control panel to upload a new image to their page or update the information it contains. To get to the control panel tap the edit link at the bottom of an Artist Page.

How is the image on the home page selected?
The image is selected by the following process: First, an artist is chosen at random from among those who have DC galleries that meet high artistic standards. Next an image is picked at random from those in the galleries of that artist and a thumbnail of that image is created for display. The image changes each time the page is refreshed.

How does one obtain galleries?
To request Gallery Service, one must first register. Registration is free and provides users with an Artist Page and a password. Users with Gallery Service can make galleries using the same control panel they use to edit their Artist Page. Users without Gallery Service may request it by email. This used to be a paid service, but now it is free.

Does the artist retain the copyright to images on Digital Consciousness?
Yes. Copyright exists for all original works. Artwork is under copyright protection the moment it is created and fixed in a tangible form so that it is perceptible. For example, as soon as you draw or paint a picture on paper or canvas, your artwork receives copyright protection. For artwork created after January 1, 1978, copyright protection will endure for the life of the author plus an additional 70 years. Artists retain the copyright to their images with or without the copyright notice or registration unless contractual arrangements are made to the contrary. Display of images on Digital Consciousness does not alter the copyright.

What are the Digital Color Awards?
The Digital Color Awards provide recognition for outstanding contemporary artists. It accepted nominations and granted awards from 1999 to 2013. Artwork of the nominees that is exhibited on Digital Consciousness and elsewhere on the Internet and was judged by a jury. The work of the winning artists is featured in the Permanent Gallery of Digital Color Winners.
