The editors select and rank sites based on artistic merit, popularity and technical qualities, such as load time.
Sites that have excessive advertisments or that use plug-ins, java, flash, or script or code that may open pop up or other
windows, manipulate the location bar or otherwise interfere with the viewer's control, are penalized.
The Artist Listings category is for sites that list a substantial number of visual
artists (at least 100) and link to further material about the artists. The sites may exhibit some artwork from the included
artists. No particular format is preferred, however, an easily found answer to the following particulars is desirable:
- the number of artists listed;
- the amount of text devoted to each artist and whether it may contain contact and sales information and hypertext;
- whether samples of the artists work are displayed and if so the maximum number, size and resolution of images an artist
is allowed to submit;
- how the artists are selected and the basis for placement in the prominent parts of the listing;
- the cost, if any, to either the artist or the viewer.
This category is not the place for personal pages or for individual artists or galleries. Artists with or without a
web site may register with Digital Consciousness to obtain an
Artist Page and be included in the main database. Galleries may suggest their sites in the
Galleries category. |
