Subject: | painting verification |
Message: | I recently posted a note on this board indicating I have two paintings done by the subject painter.
I received a message from Lebron's gallery that if I wanted to have R. Lebron to verify the validity of the paintings it would cost me $250, and I would have to send photos of the paintings along with photos of his signature!
Being as I purchased the paintings about 20-25 years ago from Mr. Lebron himself at an art fair in Santa Barbara, California--I find the request for $250 as nothing more than an attempt to get more out of the purchaser than what he was paid originally!
If one buys a painting from the artist himself, I find the necessity of verifying the paintings for money as just another way of making an extra buck on his products!
I have been a commercial photographer for years, and I have never charged anyone to determine whether I took the photograph or not. It's either yes or no!
Anybody have any comments? |
