Hi Robert, I may be too late but here goes. There was an artist in Toronto by the name of Lajo around the time period you mentioned. He was showing his work in a gallery downtown Toronto - maybe on Cumberland or Yorkville. He tended to do landscape scenes. I loved a big painting of his but its $700 dollar price was out of our budget (just out of college and needing to buy furniture). It ended up being made into prints (which I have seen in stores since) and the next time that I saw the painting, it was priced at $5000. Oh, if only I had been 'foolish' at the time and bought the painting!!!! We did end up buying a small painting of his.
