Hi,I also recently brought two of Tony Rome's paintings of Venice canals scenes(for £450.00 plus commission + VAT;portrait 800mm x 290mm and well framed), at Charles Phillips auction. I saw a larger painting of the Venice scene in the auction room, which I loved but was out bid. At a later time these two were placed for bidding (I hadn't noted them before)and got them before I could get out bid again(it was my first time), they said "they are the real thing". I have also looked up Tony Rome on the internet and could not find any of his Venice paintings. I have just left a message with the auctioneer asking about them. When I took them home I thought they were beautiful. Each were signed but I could not find any numbers, I don't know if they are giclee prints. Does anyone know any tips to work out whether these are giclee prints or otherwise? Should I keep out of auctions? |
