Message: | Hi everyone
I have been having a very lively (?!) discussion with some fellow artists on another forum about the merits of my website www.thisisperfect.co.uk and I wanted to see if there were any cultural differences in the opinions of Europe vs US. Basically, they all hate me and think what I'm doing "sucks". My mission is to try and demystify the creative process and to encourage people to participate in the generation of art in whatever form it may be. Yes, I'm trying to make a living but my question is; Do all artists suffer from the delusion that they are special and can the elitism that seems endemic in artists communities around the world ever be stamped out? If I paint a red square on a burnt umber background and then my collaborator (the public) chooses to change it to red on black, we have both contributed to the creative process and who is to say that this is not art. I wonder if us Europeans have a less blinkered opinion than our American cousins.
Free your mind, Mr Yankee-doodle, there's room for all of us in the art firmament. |
